Artist Statement:Shoe

This shoe project helped me learn how to explore line and value by using rhythm and contrast. Before doing this project I learned about line, such as real lines or implied lines. I created both real and implied lines in my drawing. I worked with mixture of geometric lines and organic lines. I showed contrasted value by creating light and dark shading.
While doing this project, I had problems with creating contrasted value all over the shoe to make it balanced. I fixed this problem by squinting my eyes and seeing where it was not dark enough. Another problem I came across was that I didn't have enough lines to fill the space up and have good balance at the same time. I fixed this problem by layering my lines to create more darkness. Through this project I learned that when you take your time you will have a better finished piece rather then rushing through it.
